Japanese ceder wood dust-induced occupational asthma

Abstract
|

|
Recently we experienced a Japanese cedar wood dust induced occupational asthma happened to the oriental picture frame maker. Four years ago, he started making frame. Three and half years ago, had been suffering from runny nose, sneezing and stuffy nose, after then, chest tightness, cough and wheezing dyspnea after working and above symptoms have aggravated more and more. He showed peripheral blood eosinophilia(720 /mm), maxillary sinus mucosal thickening and high total serum IgE(397IU/ml). He showed dual asthmatic response on Japanese cedar wood dust inhalation chal- lenge. PC20 rnethacholine on 24hr after that was 0.08 mg/ml which was much lower than basal PC20- 0.34 mg/ml. After work off, his nasal and chest symptoms disappeared and his PC20 on 7 and 10 month after work off was 4.24 and 22.5 mg/ml respectively. 10 momths after work off he was nearly free from occupational asthma.
